African Women have creative ideas!

The WFRC help Women, Identify Their Needs And Create Their Own Solutions To Reach & Achieve Their Goal.

Our main aim is to facilitate the integration of African women into the community whilst empowering them to reach and achieve their full potential.

WHAT WE DO

We Relieve Hardship, Poverty And Ill Health for Women By Providing Charitable Support.

INFORMATION & RESOURCE SERVICES: We assist women in finding and accessing available community services. We provide orientation services to newcomers in the UK.

ADVICE & GUIDANCE: We provide free and impartial confidential advice services for adults, children and families.

THE SISTERS WITH HEART BEFRIENDING PROJECT- Offers home visits by providing practical one to one support to help women address their concerns, issues pertaining to isolation and loneliness, domestic violence, immigration, bereavement, serious illness, break down in family relationships, depression, alcohol abuse, parenting support and any other crisis or challenging situation.

COUNSELLING: We offer short term individual or couple counselling sessions. Providing emotional support and counselling to families that are dealing with any type of crisis (illness, domestic violence, tragedy, etc.)

We also offer relationship counselling sessions or mediation services by appointment only. We are unable to accept clients who are dealing with substance abuse or those requiring medication. This service is free to anyone on public benefits however, a small fee is applicable for these services if you are working.

PARENTING COACHING: We offer short term parenting group sessions with opportunities to lay the foundations for positive parenting, supporting parents to improve parent child relationships and to build up children’s self- esteem and resilience. We also offer individualised parenting support for parents going through child protection or safeguarding issues.

MEDIATION SERVICES: Mediation services to improve communication during family breakdowns and divorce where children are involved.

We help service users to overcome Social Isolation and Exclusion

EVERY WOMAN’S CHAT GROUP – A weekly drop in group for women from diverse backgrounds and cultures giving them the opportunity to meet new people make friends and practice conversational English.

COOKERY SESSIONS- These sessions enable the women to practice their cookery skills, promote the impact that healthy eating can have on improving the quality of people’s lives and help enhance their confidence skills.

HEALTH & WELLBEING: Facilitating Health Forums, Training, Seminars, Workshops, Conferences, Health Promotion And Information Services On Issues Affecting Women. Exercise Sessions

EVENTS -Social, cultural and recreational activities to overcome social isolation and provide informal emotional support.

EMPLOYMENT, TRAINING & VOLUNTEERING

Employment Coaching: Job search facilities, Basic IT skills, CV Preparation, Interviewing skills and Career advice.

Opening doors of opportunities that allow women to pursue their aims and dreams.

VOLUNTEERING: We offer Volunteering and Work placement opportunities for those who need to gain work experience to enhance their prospects of progressing into further education, employment or future career prospects.

Orientation Activities: National Insurance Registration, Esol Classes, Bank Account Opening, Landlord Support & Other Mediation & Advocacy Services Basic IT sessions Life skills Sessions

CHILDREN & YOUNG PEOPLE

CLUB ARISE TO SHINE: Dance, Drama, Singing, Debate, Spoken Poetry, Sports & Holiday Activities for children.

GIRLS SELF ESTEEM WORKSHOPS: These workshops are held during weekends or school holidays to support 8-18 year old girls build their self-esteem, body confidence and leadership skills.
